Loneliness and numbness are two sensations that have something in common: they are surrounded by an atmosphere of quietness and isolation. This leads to an emotional disconection, in which loneliness doesn't feel just as the absence of company, but also a paralyzing experience. It's as if loneliness had become so familiar that it no longer causes the sharp pain that you experience at the beginning, and instead it has turned into some kind of emotionel numbness, such as a constant company.
